Erstwhile Gallery EXHIBITION

Danielle Riede
Peacemeal

11/07/2008 – 11/26/2008

The Erstwhile Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition by Danielle Riede, a new painting professor at IUPUI’s Herron School of Art and Design. Riede will combine found and self-fabricated pieces of paint, resin and detritus with household items to create a new series of site sensitive works. While paint, color and light have consistently been the primary intellectual and physical materials in her work, Riede’s incorporation of domestic items is an attempt to open up the somewhat insular world of painting to the community at large. The title, “Peacemeal”, refers to both her collage-like process and her hopes for community healing through art.

The exhibition was made possible with support from SEND, the Efroymson Fund (a CICF Fund) and Big Car Gallery.

ALCHEMY art + aesthetics

ALCHEMY art + aesthetics presents Mexican born, Herron School of Art student, Jennifer Hutchinson for her BFA Thesis Exhibition. Her work deals with the exploration of personal identity and the idea of personal time. It is a body of work that is deeply intimate, composed mostly of paintings, but displayed as an installation with objects that help compose the narrative of the work and allow the viewer to step into the artist's world.
