Design talk at the IMA Thursday

Not sure if we're allowed to wear costumes or not, but you should go here on Thursday...

After Memphis? Design in Europe since 1990

Thursday, October 30th @ 6 pm, DeBoest Lecture Hall

Named for a Bob Dylan lyric, the Memphis design collective, known for its flamboyant approach to post-modernism, took Europe by storm in 1981. Since Memphis, Europe continues its design eminence. Join Penny Sparke, a professor of design history at Kingston University London, for a discussion on key individuals who have helped Europe maintain its distinctive role as global leader in the world of innovative object design over the last 25 years. Presented in part by the Design Arts Society with the support of the Myrtie Shumacker Lecture Fund.

Please, wear costumes! That would be divine. Maybe something inspired by Phillipe Starck?

Wish I could make it, should be an interesting lecture. Helmut Fortense sells some Memphis pieces at Form+Function in Nora. They're worth a look.
