The Midwest Museum of Contemporary Art (MiCo) is pleased to present Focus: Midwest, a selection of works by eight talented artists based in the Midwest. Curated by Scott Grow, this exhibition hopes to bring attention to the artists and work produced in the region. The exhibition consists of photography, sculpture, painting, video and an audio installation. These artists will take over MiCo's temporary showroom at 1043 Virginia Ave, Suite 4, in Fountain Square from March 7th to 29th. Open to the public: Fridays 5pm-7pm and Saturdays 1pm-4pm or by appointment. Focus:

CLOP SHIT CLOP: PAINTINGS OF PAINTINGS
The work of Tom Morrill and Julia Bland
First Friday, March 7 6 p.m. to Midnight Admission: free

The Rhode Island School of Design seniors Julia Bland and Tom Morrill make their first trip to Indiana exhibiting, CLOP SHIT CLOP: PAINTING OF PAINTINGS. The work includes film, textiles, paintings, prints and photography dealing with complexities of contemporary space and the multi media world that surrounds us. Special coffee reception with the artists, Saturday March 8, at 1 p.m., at Big Car Gallery.

Live music that night at 9:30 p.m. by: Amo Joy!, Vagabonds of the Railway, Paper Son and Gill.

Installation artist, composer and musician Craig Colorusso of Brooklyn, NY will be performing his MB 89 project on the second floor of the Murphy Arts Center in Fountain Square. MB89 is an experimental sound, cloth and light installation. The Murphy Arts Center is one stop on Colorusso's 10-city tour thanks to a collaboration between Big Car Gallery and Biscuits & Gravy Gallery, both located in the building. When: March 7, 2008 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Where: Murphy Art Center 1043 Virginia Avenue Suite 210 How much: Free The concept for this installation is to create a space of subtle movement where people can be part of the environment and absorb MB 89 any way they like. A cylindrical mass of metal and fabric will stand in the room, from within the cylinder will be a bass clarinet generating a drone with electronics. Lights will accompany the drone. It will be a four-hour performance. The performance is designed for the audience to come and go as they please. It is best to find a space in the room and listen for a while leave and then come back.

Coming to light: An Exhibition of Writing and Art
What: Coming to light is a multi-media exhibition featuring original writing by 175 Indiana children and visual interpretations created by six Indianapolis artists: Vance Farrow, Elizabeth Guipe Hall, Susan Hodgin, Josh Johnson, William A. Rasdell, and Artur Silva. This show presents the unusual opportunity to experience the powerful synergy of writing and visual art, where together meanings come to light. Where: Herron School of Art and Design, Marsh Gallery 735 W. New York Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202 When: March 7-21, 2008 Opening Reception Friday, March 7, 2008 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Free and open to the public. PIVOT Gallery presents its Farewell Show
Reception: Friday, March 7 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Pivot Gallery presents its Farewell Show, a one-piece invitational featuring Indianapolis artists. This group was specially selected from among those who have exhibited in the gallery since it opened in 2003. A reception will be held on Friday, March 7 from 5:30–9:30 p.m. The event is free, open to the public, and street parking is available. Visitors should enter on the first floor of the Stutz Building at the corner of 10th Street & Senate Avenue. This exhibit continues through March 20. The Harrison Center for the Arts presents Road Trip – a group show in the Harrison Gallery inspired by the classic American driving vacation and featuring work from Tre Reising, Amy Reel, Matthew Eickhoff, Denise Charboneau-Eickhoff, Mary Beth Jackson and Brandon Bush.
