Indy Public Art
Do you like this story?
Aesthetic Ground, Art Journals blog for Public Art and Public Space, recently gave recognition to the new Indianapolis Public Art web site. This new web site had been months in the making and have some wonderful features. One such feature that I was most interested in is the Public Art Locator (PAL). The great thing about PAL is that we finally have a resource that will allow us to find out information about those public art works you have always been curious about. While the site is still fairly new, not all public art works are yet on the site but in time I expect more works and information to be added.
The Arts Council, via their E-news letter, is looking for your help to add more content to this site. Below is from the Arts Council E-News:
Arts Council seeks digital images for Internet-based Public Art Locator
The city of Indianapolis is full of great public art, but not all of it is featured on the Arts Council's new online Public Art Locator (P.A.L.) --- at least, not yet. And that's why we need your help.
The Arts Council wants you to make public art your own by sending us digital photos and/or descriptions of local public art that you think we should add to P.A.L., the new Internet-based tool that makes finding public art in Indy easier than ever before. The tool is available at www.indyarts.org and www.publicartindianapolis.org. Be sure to check often to see what what new pieces, photos and information we've added.
To submit a digital image/information for inclusion on P.A.L., please email it to publicart@indyarts.org, including the street address or nearest intersection. All submissions will be considered by the Public Art department.
P.A.L. was developed by Public Art Indianapolis, a program of the Arts Council of Indianapolis and supported by the Indianapolis Cultural Development Commission. This project is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

I read an statement in the Indpls Star last week that said tax money spent trying to be "world class" is one reason for the property tax crises....opinions?

This is cool. They used Google Maps' API and built upon it. Wow, it's great.
I've got photos to submit.
