Theo Jansen at IUPUI

I had never heard of Theo Jansen until this morning. But after seeing the BMW commercial on youtube.com (and then lots of other youtube.com videos), I made plans to go see one of his "Strandbeest" walking around at the IUPUI campus. What a thrill to see this thing 'eat wind,' and move.

It was a veritable media blitz around his kinetic sculpture, cameras, cell phones, video cameras, and apperantly Fox 59 (supposedly airing a piece on the 10:00pm news).

I'm only going to upload one photo here, but I've created a Flickr group for onthecusp. If you have photos, why don't you upload them there? (You'll have to join Flickr, and then join the onthecusp.org Flickr group. Note, if you are creating a new account it may take a while for your photos to show up. See Flickr FAQ.)

I wonder if anyone will make a youtube.com video out of the visit.

He's giving a lecture tonight at 7pm at Herron, which I won't be able to attend. Anyone care to give a recap of his lecture?

Well, the IndyStar.com made a very nice video of the piece:
