Interested in Collecting Art?

Well, if you are I have a couple interesting info bits for you. Later this evening, IMOCA, will be hosting the first of four discussions on collecting art. The discussions will be in the form of panel talks with artists, art professionals, gallerists, and art collectors. These should be interesting to attend for those who are interested in building an art collection or have interest in how to strengthen their collection. From their press release:

The Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA) is pleased to announce the Fall 2006 semester of iMOCA 101: The Art of Collecting, a four-part series designed to educate and guide both novice and expert art collectors. Panels, moderated by curator Christopher West, will discuss all aspects of art collecting from the first time gallery or studio visit to collecting for a museum. Panelists will include private and corporate collectors, artists, art consultants, curators and gallery owners. The four-part series will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 pm on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the fall: September 13, October 11, November 8 and December 13 at the iMOCA galleries located at 340 North Senate Avenue.

-Wednesday, September 13th - Buying directly from the artist/Open Studios/Commissions
-Wednesday, October 11th - The Importance of the Gallery
-Wednesday, November 8th - The Focused Collection
-Wednesday, December 13th - Private Collections Made Public

In other news, world famous art collector, Charles Saatchi has been interviewed in the Guardian Unlimited. He rarely allows for interviews and never appears at the opening of his own shows; so, if you are interested, check it out and get to know a little about the man.
