My lack of recent postings

Just a word on the recent lack of postings from me, here at On the Cusp. It turns out to be that time of year or rather that point in ones day when everything is happening at the same time. I have been busy this week dismanteling an exhibition, curating another, working on a parade project, finishing up my own art work for the Artists Projects later this month during Art Chicago, along with several other endeavors. In short, I have been quite busy. Do not fret, some posts are coming real soon. I have at least 6 posts, in rough draft form, that are soon to be posted. I just wanted to think them through before posting.

In the meantime, I came across this interview with art writer/critic Dave Hickey, via Artkrush, via ArtInfo (the internet blog train rides again). Hickey is always an excellent read. One of my favorite passages from the interview is his response to the following question:

What about biennials in general and their globe-trotting curators?

You mean those people flying around the world on the public dime trying to find some idiot in the boondocks who makes identity art with television sets? They’re obsolete but not endangered. They think art spaces are laboratories for the interaction of cultures. They’re not. They’re places where you put cool stuff, stuff you love. That’s why art fairs have replaced biennials. Cooler stuff. Higher stakes. Better fashion sense.

Kudos to that. I had a few conversations with him when I was in grad school & he was a visiting prof. - genuine mindbenders. Air Guitar is a must read.
