Poll Testing... While waiting on FedEx
Do you like this story?
Sorry folks, for not having the First Friday Preview and IDADA Map link up yet, you should be able to check it out by morning. In the meantime I was making a few modifications to the right hand side of the blog and will be finally updating the blogroll this weekend. I thought I would try out Blogger's new survey option this week to get an idea of who our readers are and how they are associated to the blog. Why? Partially just curious but then I also feel it may help to focus and improve the direction of the blog over the coming months.
TAKE THE SURVEY in the right hand column. --->
If anyone would be interested in being a contributor to On the Cusp, drop me a line at narziss01@aol.com.
Have a good week.

The Poll is interesting. I just used it. I'm not sure what it's ment to illustrated, other than I'm dissapointed that I'm only the 19th person to do it.
It makes me wonder how many people check otc.
It makes me wonder, also, what the role of the otc is in the community.
Hey, there's an idea. Take a poll about what people think of otc.

I contributed twice....but am not sure it was what you were looking for. You didn't give me much feedback. ;) heh!
What exactly ARE you wanting? I'm not in Indianapolis....and probably am not "cutting edge". So.
Sounds like you want a non artist with a very tough hide and no caring connections to this local art scene to give unbiased and (if warrented) not so sweet reviews. That it?

Yep, at least it will be honest and not full of political shit. The problem is Indy is a backwards place, tomorrow that writer might see that artist at Omalias and the artist my torch him or her up, or at least give 'em a weird look. Small town folks! Wake up farming land!

The Dude says wake up and learn to form complete thoughts and sentences before you start talking about "farming land" and "politcal shit."
And yeah I know this is an agrarian society but so what?
What's backwards Indy or your capacity to think?

I've read this blog over a couple years and I plan to take the poll. Its funny how the personalities come thru even on line.
Hey "Dude", you ought to think about changing your handle to "Bully"....or "Defensive Wad".
Attacking people who post an opinion "someone" just doesn't like may be a way to keep many from joining in here at OtC and sharing their views.

Hi Lirio, I certainly have appreciated your participation. Much appreciated.
You ask,
"Sounds like you want a non artist with a very tough hide and no caring connections to this local art scene to give unbiased and (if warrented) not so sweet reviews. That it?"
Ideally? Yes. Primarily, because it prevents a lot more conflict of interest and allows the writer to write about whatever they feel without reprecussions from arts organizations and thereby allowing them to be blunt and honest. (Where are the passionate non artists who are proactive in the city? In other towns I find it easier to find independant curators, art dealers, arts writers, etc that are visible and active, but here it seems harder to find.)
But, I do feel that some people are able to do this to some degree who are artists and or arts professionals so I would not want to cut them out of the picture of possible candidates. As you can all tell, there is quite the shortage of candidats. In the two years OtC has been active only 6-7 people have contributed. People are either too busy, uninterested, unable, or affraid of the backlash in the commentary section. (At times I can not blame them, hehe.)
I would love for any writer with a solid opinion and perspective with an interest in contemporary art. Some may call it "cutting edge" and as our regular readers all know, that term is impossible to contend with, just as the term "contemporary" but for all purposes, I hope this blog is focused on art that is exciting, and new. Art about our time, today. Not traditional art forms and styles though some may have an argument that those styles are being used in a contemporary manner. If so, so be it.
Where are the passionate non artists who want to be proactive in the city? In other towns I find it easier to find independant curators, art dealers, arts writers, etc that want to be an active particpant in the art community, but here it seems harder to find. Outside the institutions and the Organizations, all the curators, gallery owners, and such are artists themselves...

I didn't know there was a roving band of curators out there.
