Weekend Preview

Friday, August 31st, Pivot Gallery (formerly the Stutz Gallery) will be hosting, Subsurface, an exhibition devoted to graffiti art and artists from around the country. While I expect you will find the graffiti to be more in the realm of graffiti muralist and street art rather than the tradition of taggers, it should be fun. This exhibit is free and open to the public. Street parking is available. Please enter on the first floor of the historic Stutz Building at the corner of 10th Street & Senate Avenue. Opening Reception: Friday, August 31 from 5:30–9:30pm.

I used to get down to Bloomington on a regular basis, typically to see a band play, meet some friends for dinner at the Snow Lion, and to see what was showing at the SoFa gallery. The SoFA Gallery at Indiana University is one of the areas best places to see contemporary art outside Indianapolis. This Saturday, Club SoFa turns 20.

Club SoFA: 20th Birthday Benefit for the SoFA Gallery
Saturday, September 1, 2007
6 - midnight

Fall season opens with a birthday party celebrating
the SoFA's birthday. The event will include live local
music, a dance party, Wii tournaments, yard games like
corn hole, sports on TV and surprises. Funds from
admission tickets ($10 at the door) and donations to
the gallery will ensure that the SoFA is able to
continue its ongoing schedule of exhibitions and
events.
If you have not yet visited the SoFa Gallery or you want to support them then it may be time to call some of your friends, arrange to have dinner at the Snow Lion and check out the Club SoFa birthday celebration.
