AMP (Art Music People)

The Indianapolis Museum of Art and NUVO have partnered together to bring AMP back. This event which if memory serves me correctly attempted to get a foot hold just over a year ago and quickly disappeared. Well, it is back again and hopefully will find a niche with the younger business crowds it wants to attract. I like the idea of these events and think it could prove a success if the word was to go out to the community but it appears this is not a concern at the moment as very little information can be found on the event on either web site. I do receive monthly emails from the IMA about the months events and it is through their latest that I found out about AMP being back. Here is what information they had to offer:

Nuvo Presents AMP at IMA
Every Friday / 5:00–9:00 pm
Pulliam Great Hall
FREE

NUVO and IMA are teaming up to bring you live bands every Friday night in a cool, unique environment. Come by after work for the ultimate after-party. Puck's appetizers and cocktails will be available for purchase.

Perhaps that blurb is enough to attract those that received the email, but I have doubts. I for one was curious what type of musical events were a part of this? Who are they catering (as in attempting to attract)to? I was excited about AMP when I first heard about it a year ago and now get the chance to check it out. I just hope they get the word out to the community they are wanting to attract so this will last. After an email to NUVO, I was able to find out the following music acts for the next few weeks:
April 6- Scott Matelic
April 13- Ryan Ahlwardt
April 20- Gentleman Caller

NOTE TO IMA PRESS DEPARTMENT:I am a fan of all the strides the IMA has been making over the past year but please make finding press releases and event information easier on your web site. Aside from some confusing navigation and lack of details in some regards, your most recent "press release" listed in your online "press room" dates back to November 13th, 2006. I am pretty sure you have had some noteworthy press releases since then.

Being the 6th is a First Friday, I will not be able to attend AMP but I sure plan on making it next week. If anyone goes this week, let us know how it went. I am interested to know.

AMP is a great event. Very laid back and a nice way to wind down after work and kick off the weekend. Plus it's free. Check out the video I made when I went last week:

Yeah, that looks about as fun as an office Christmas Party.

Thanks, Kate, for trying to pimp a lame story about a lame event.

What's next, a behind the scens look at the reunion tour of the Why Store?
