Local Artist Grant Updates

Reminder: the Creative Renewal Grant deadline is this Friday, December 1st. That only gives you a couple days to tighten up your proposals and drop them off if you have not already done so. Does anyone else think that proposal period went by too quickly? I must say that I seem to remember a longer proposal period in previous years, where I think this one was less than 6 weeks. I wonder why?

announcement: the Indiana Arts commission sent out their email blast today announcing that they are now taking proposals for the newly revised Individual Artist Project Grant. From their email:

Artists living and working in Indiana may apply for up to $2,000 from the Individual Artist Program grant, which is doubled from last year. The grants are intended to assist artists with specific project-related costs that will help them further their career and provide significant public benefit through the completed project.

Eligible projects may be in the areas of: crafts, dance, design art, folk art, literature, media arts, multi-arts, music, photography, theater, and visual arts. All projects must be completed between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008. The deadline for applications is February 1, 2007.

Citizen review panels will judge applications, examining them based upon: the quality of the artist's work, the impact the project will have on the artist's career development, public benefit from the project, and feasibility of the project completion in the specified period of time.
