Weekend Preview and Old news link dump

Joel Pinkerton will participate in this year's Spike-A-Delic Benefit for iMOCA

...so will Jeff Martin, Brian Presnell, Cory Robinson and Eric Wallentine. But none of them have pictures as classic as the one above so Joel gets the feature.

Benefit Friday night. Ticket info here. Run down of events here.

As we speak, Julian Opie is on his way back over the pond. 11 installations nearly complete and I must say it looks great. Sad to see the British contingent go but my liver couldn't take another day. Website for the show up and running here. Expect a full pictoral review here on OtC soon. Most importantly, go out and see this show. 10 of the 11 installations are within walking distance downtown and the 11th is at the IMA. A perfect reason to go visit the Fred Sandback room again.

Hoping to report breaking news about a local artist with a great installation in Miami during Art Basel soon... details to come.

Also, must read Tyler Green's article on Adele and Lauder. Culture Grrl continues to try and push Tyler's buttons.

Hmm... The squable over the arrival of the Klimt and the status of the Neue Galerie's status seems minor and foolish. Won't that institution be like any other one, be judged by its exhibits and programming AND its ability to show important works of art?

The argument seems not very worthwhile.

I really don't see anyone arguing that Neue is not important and uninteresting. It's been rather popular since it opened, not only because it was a hot place to have lunch (and probably still is).
