Weekend Preview

Tonight

  • 9 pm - performance on railroad tracks just north of Kessler and two blocks west of Allisonville. I of course left all information about this at home, but I went last night and recommend you go tonight. Do you ever have those experiences where you're not entirely sure what is happening but very glad that it is happening? Especially in Indy? This was one of those experiences for me. Emotional performance in a great and creative setting. Audience walks with the performers up and down the tracks which really adds to the viewing experience. Lasts about 45 minutes. Be there.

Thursday, June 29th

  • 7 to 9 pm - On the Edge: Chinese Artists Encounter the West at the IMA. Features bold, experimental works by 11 of China's leading avant-garde artists. On the Edge explores the artists' position in the global art world, which is focused on the West, as well as China's political situation in regard to the West. Twenty paintings, prints, photographs, videos, mixed-media installations, sculptures and interactive CD-ROMs are featured, by Huang Yong Ping, Qiu Zhijie, Yan Lei, Xu Bing, Zhang Huan and other leading artists. $10 members/$15 non members. No RSVP necessary.
