In Chelsea recently, there was a show at a parking lot. It was hard to tell if artists just got together and rented that space for the month (week maybe?) or if there was any gallery involvement. The show was so so and had few names that were at this Whitney biennial and others that I later saw at the Armory.

That is incredibly creative.

I too have been following the reviews of this show and the rising popularity of Zoe's photos. I just wanted to point out that what I think makes this show work so well is not just that it is in a weird or strange location but that her work is often about the things and people she see's on the streets, her community, etc. This location, along with the subject and quality of her images merge to make a strong, original, and fun art exhibition. I doubt that just any work would do in that environment. Grassroots art exhibitions. I love it.
Reminds me of a story (or myth) I was once told about how Edvard Munch went a little mad and hung his paintings on the trunks of trees through out a forest. I never tried to find out the details or if in fact this actually did happen but the story always stuck with me. Kind of dreamlike, beautiful.
Anyone, able to point me to actual references to that story?

You all sure do write a lot about art that ISN'T going on in indianapolis. We can all read magazines and New York-based blogs, you know. If you want Indianapolis to become the hip art-oriented city you keep claiming it can be, you need to be looking at what is going on around here and writing about it in an interesting, informed way. (Since you are extremely critical of those who write about it in ways you consider un-informed)
