Robert Lostutter: sHOW at Herron
5-8pm Free and open to the public
Lecture by Robert Lostutter, 6pmBasile Auditorium
From Herron's website:Born in 1939, Lostutter is of the same generation as the loosely connected
group of artists known as the Chicago Imagist, to whom he has been linked at
various times. Like many Imagist artists, Lostutter attended the School of the
Art Institute of Chicago during the late 1950s/early 1960s, while later showing
his work for many years at the Phyllis Kind Gallery (Chicago/New York), the
premier showcase for Imagist art. Renowned art critic, Garrett Holg, writes,
"Using nearly a dry brush, Lostutter builds his images in layers of tiny,
obsessively painstaking pointillist-like cross-hatches, modeling light and
shadow as if it were playing over the polished surface of a sculpted marble
figure."An exhibition catalog will be available with the opening essay written
by Garrett Holg. The exhibition travels to The Chicago Cultural Center and will
be on display from July through September.
