- iMOCA 101 - Photography and the Built Environment: Sandy Skoglund & Thomas Demand. Discussion/lecture on contemporary photography with Elizabeth Mix. 5:30 pm at iMOCA.
- 7:30 pm - Striking Sparks at the Victoria and Albert Museum: A Decade of Curatorship in the DeBoest Lecture Hall at the IMA. During the 1990s, the Victoria and Albert Museum of London underwent amazing and often agonizing growth. Despite management and funding challenges and the controversial departure of senior curators, the museum emerged into the new millennium as a world leader. Philippa Glanville, former chief curator of metalwork and expert adviser to the British government, will discuss her experiences during this extraordinary time in the museum’s history.
- 6 - 9 pm - Untitled Projects: Auto Economies. A solo exhibition by Conrad Bakker at iMOCA. This exhibition will be a series of three separate, interconnected projects that investigate the subtle intersections of capital and power that permeate general car culture and are specifically oriented to the car culture of Indianapolis. Conrad Bakker lives and works in Urbana, IL and has exhibited his work nationally and internationally in places such as the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, Fargfabriken Center for Contemporary Art (Stockholm), Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (North Adams), Southern Exposure (San Francisco) and Art in General (New York) among many others.

- Noon - Coffee and Conversation with Conrad Bakker. Listen and talk to Conrad Bakker as he discusses his latest exhibition at iMOCA.
- Elusive Signs - Bruce Nauman Works with Light at the IMA. The colorful, seductive glow of neon light invites you to explore the works of Bruce Nauman, an artist whose art can be both amusing and disquieting—even disturbing—but never dispassionate (from the IMA's website). This exhibition was organized by the Milwaukee Art Museum and runs through August 6th.

The sign reminds me of the neon bakery sign outside my window when I lived in Paris. All night long, it would flash the word "PAIN" (bread).

The location is a yet to be occupied office building. I've heard there are 30 some artists displaying.

makes me wonder why they arent displaying in their own school 30 gallery space. did the city close that thing down for more code violations?
